I think we all take friction for granted sometimes. We often see friction as something that prevents or slows down movement, but by using friction to your advantage, you can create some really awesome results. Take this video for example. The machinist takes two huge metal cylinders and attaches them to a machine. The machine spins the cylinders against one another, and the end result isn’t really what you’d expect.
Either way, the reaction itself is pretty cool, especially when you look at the colour that is generated by the friction which makes the whole process look like something out of Star Wars.
