This spider is a “bird-eating” tarantula and it can be found in Guyana, South America. The man who took the picture, Piotr Naskrecki, thought this was a possum when he first saw it. When it moved however, he knew that it was the largest spider that he had ever seen.

This creepy crawly also likes to eat larger game and small rodents as well.

The Guinness Book of Records has stated that this spider is the largest tarantula in the world and it weighs the same as a very small puppy. The legs stretch out to over a foot long and apparently, according to the photographer, it sounds like a small horse when it moves. You wouldn’t like to be stuck with this spider when in the woods and if you have a fear of spiders, I suggest that you look away now. What an amazing creature.
