If you pay a visit to the Netherlands, you won’t be able to see a circus with any wild animals. Why? Because it is officially illegal. This is a huge step forward for those who believe in animal rights and it finally puts an end to the cruelty that lions, giraffes and tigers are subject to in these types of environments. Normally, animals would be caged and subjected to hours and hours of non-stop travelling, before having to take part in various training drills. Upon completion of these drills, they would then need to parade on stage, before the whole process starts over.
Wile Dieren has put a lot of work into making this happen, years in fact, and the ban is also going to help give these animals new homes as well. It may have taken 9 years, but the end result is well worth it.
